In 2001, Turning Point Housing, Inc. began restoring the Heminger House Travel Lodge, a 1937 historic home, with the intention of being a safe shelter for victims of domestic violence. On September 11, 2008, Heminger House Shelter Opened its doors and welcomed its first resident. Our services are free of charge, In addition, confidential. Our first concern is to respond to a victim of violence and provide her with Safe emergency housing and basic needs. Secondly, we offer to them our unique E.S.C.A.P.E. program -Education, Support, Counsel, Advice, Protection & Empowerment- With the end goal being a long-term solution for each family. By offering local resources and making individual referrals To local, state and federal agencies, We help residents establish independent, safe, and healthy lives.

Why We Do What We Do
It is our long-term mission to break the cycle of violence and poverty by providing a caring, healing, and educational service for victims of abuse, including safe, emergency housing and related programs. It is our intent to prepare victims, and their families, so that they can learn to make independent, productive choices, which will assist them in living independently in a healthy, positive, and safe environment.
